We’re sorry to see you go. This page explains how to delete your Philo account and what happens to your data when you do.
How to Delete Your Account
Option 1: From Within the App
- Open the Philo app
- Go to Settings (tap the gear icon in the top right)
- Scroll down to Account
- Tap Delete Account
- Confirm the deletion when prompted
Option 2: By Email
Send an email to contact@philoq.app with the subject line “Delete My Account”. Please include the email address associated with your Philo account. We will process your request within 30 days.
What Data Is Deleted
When you delete your account, the following data is permanently removed:
- Account information — your email address, display name, and authentication credentials
- Favorites and collections — all saved quotes and custom collections
- Preferences — language, theme, notification settings
- Usage data — session history, interaction data, and analytics
- AI chat history — all conversations with AI philosophers
What Data May Be Retained
- Payment records — purchase transaction records are retained for 10 years as required by German tax law (Abgabenordnung §147). These records do not contain your credit card details.
- Anonymised analytics — aggregated, anonymised usage statistics that cannot be linked back to you may be retained.
Important Notes
- Account deletion is permanent and irreversible. Your data cannot be recovered.
- Any remaining credit balance will be permanently lost upon account deletion and cannot be recovered or refunded.
- Account data is fully deleted within 30 days of your request.
